Computing the way it was meant to be

I just got a ‘new’ screen a few days ago. It is sporting a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. Woah!

I had a bit of trouble getting the right resolution options from the NVIDIA X Server Settings program, but a bit of googleing turned up a solution. I just had to add the frequencies of the monitor to the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file as described here. The frequencies of the monitor turned up nicely after just googleing the name of the monitor, and now I get to choose just the resolutions I like.

I also finally caved and downgraded from Amarok 2 to Amarok 1.4 as described here – although it seems better to use this updated ppa instead:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/amarok14/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/bogdanb/amarok14/ubuntu jaunty main

Amarok 2 just seems to miss the last polish, and Amarok 1.4 is still my all time favourite music player.

He, we are working hard on that! I actually think that 2.1.1 is good, at least compared to 2.0.2. The upcoming 2.2 will hopefully get a lot of users like you back on the Amarok 2 train! :-)

  2. @ Peter: Thanks!

@ Nikolaj: Be sure that I will be looking into the new Amarok releases from time to time to see if I can get to like them better. Keep up the good work.I know a lot of hard work is going into Amarok, and I sure do appreciate that!
